Alison Mohr Boleware, former Director of Policy at the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and adjunct professor at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work
Alison Mohr Boleware, LMSW, is a proud sixth generation Texan, licensed social worker, policy wonk, and adjunct professor.
Alison brings over a decade of experience spanning a variety of roles in and around the Texas legislature, bringing extensive background in legislative action, strategic systems change, health and human services policymaking, and philanthropic policy grant programming.
Alison most recently served as the Director of Policy at the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health. She previously worked as the Government Relations Director at the National Association of Social Workers – Texas Chapter and as a Health Policy Analyst at the Texas Medical Association. Alison started her career as a Policy Fellow for the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, participating in the Hogg Policy Academy. During the 84th legislative session she served as a Legislative Aide to a State Representative and staffed the House Human Services Committee. Throughout her policy career she has worked across the aisle to maintain bipartisan relationships for all of her advocacy efforts.
Alison has supervised more than a dozen social work student interns and mentored numerous emerging policy professionals, including leading the Hogg Policy Academy grant program. She serves as an assistant adjunct professor at The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work teaching multiple master’s and bachelor’s level courses including Advanced Policy Practice, Social Policy Analysis & Social Problems, Social Welfare Programs, Policies, and Issues, and Dynamics of Organizations and Communities.
Alison is a Licensed Master Social Worker and received her Master of Science in Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin with a Community and Administrative Leadership focus. Alison also has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Texas A&M University. In her free time she enjoys yoga, reading, (easy!) crafts, and exploring Austin with her family.
