The Patman Center is excited to announce our 2025 Maymester scholarship recipients! The Patman Center Maymester is taking place May 12th - 16th in Washington D.C. The course, titled Effective Advocacy for Influencing Federal Policymaking, provides students the opportunity to learn directly from political professionals working in D.C. The Patman Center's $3,000 scholarships are awarded to five select students who can use the money to pay for transportation and hotel accommodations while in D.C.

To celebrate the Patman Center’s one year anniversary, we are highlighting two LBJ students who have taken classes at The Patman Center. In the past year, The Patman Center has offered six courses at The LBJ School. Learn what its like to take a Patman Center class!

The Patman Center prides itself on making civic leaders and lessons on democratic participation accessible to the public. Each week, all Patman Center events are open and free to all members of the public. Learn more about what this life-long learner gets out of attending our events.

The Patman Center is excited to announce the 2024 Patman Scholars!

This past weekend, undergraduates and post-graduates traveled to The LBJ School of Public Affairs to participate in PPIA’s Public Service Weekend. The attendees of this weekend attend panels, network with one another, and complete a project by the end of the weekend. The theme of the weekend was Emerging Public Policy Issues in Texas and the American South.

University of Texas at Austin undergraduate students Andreana Faucette and Paulina Licon have been awarded The Patman Center's Research Award for Renewing Democracy. This award recognizes outstanding thinking that helps our democracy thrive.

This May, LBJ students visited Washington D.C. for a Maymester course at The Patman Center called “Effective Advocacy for Federal Policymaking.” The course was taught by Professor Emily Bhandari. Students had the exciting opportunity to interview speakers and visited famed governmental institutions and world class advocacy groups.

This month, The Patman Center is pleased to highlight one of our students, Miles Andres. He’s taking "The Politics and Issues of the Election Cycle" and "Skills for Civic Leadership", both Patman Center affiliated courses. Miles says choosing to take both classes was an easy decision.
