State Representative Gina Hinojosa (D)
Gina Hinojosa is an attorney and experienced legislator serving the heart of Austin in Texas House District 49. Elected in 2016 and sworn in on January 10, 2017, she brings legal expertise and advocacy in service to her role. She previously worked at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and in private legal practice with Kator, Parks & Weiser, and was part of the legal team in the high-profile case against U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. She also served on the Austin ISD school board and contributed to Catholic Charities USA, Texas Rural Legal Aid, and the Equal Justice Center, all before turning to elected service. Now in the state legislature, Hinojosa serves on the House Public Education Committee, Business and Industry Committee, and the Select Committee on Educational Opportunity and Enrichment. She also chairs the Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee—playing a key role in campaign strategy and pro-democracy efforts. Her combined legal background and civic leadership make her a powerful advocate for education, social justice, and progress in Austin and beyond.
